About
Gabriel Elvery is a doctor of English Literature with a focus on Fantasy Literature, Game Studies and parasocial relationships. Their research is highly interdisciplinary, utilising both literary and qualitative techniques, including classroom action research and reader-response as practice. Their work is produced with a keen passion for, and knowledge of, intersectionality.
Gabe is an experienced speaker, teacher and guest lecturer, having taught internationally at graduate level. When delivering a lecture, they don’t just read off a Powerpoint. Their presentations often include elements of performance, and are entertaining as well as informative.
Gabe is an experienced workshop facilitator in both academic and public outreach settings. Their sessions are highly interactive, often utilising video games in a ‘Let’s Play’ style. When teaching, they convey complex knowledge in a way that is fun, relatable and situates knowledge in its ‘real world’ context.
In addition to their academic pursuits, Gabe is a keen photographer, make-up artist and writer.
